On 11 June, the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) hosted an impactful online event titled “Paving the Way to Net-Zero Energy in Industry and SMEs.” This session, held at 14:30, featured a distinguished panel of experts, including Timothy Alden, Eline Blanchard, Ioanna Makarouni, Edyta Nowak, Ettore Piantoni, Gatis Žogla, and Dušan Jakovljević.
The event showcased innovative efforts from six EU-funded projects—EnTRAINER, AUDIT2MEASURE, DEESME2050, EE4SMEs, EE4HORECA, and KNOWnNEBs—all dedicated to advancing decarbonization in industrial sectors and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). These projects are at the forefront of promoting clean energy transitions across Europe.
Timothy Alden, Senior Project Manager at Malta Business Bureau, represented the EE4SMEs project, highlighting its significant role in facilitating the clean energy transition for SMEs. His presentation underscored the tangible impact of the project in empowering small businesses to adopt energy-efficient practices.
The session aimed to delve deep into Europe’s clean energy transition for industries, drawing on the collective experiences and insights of various stakeholders. The objective was to foster meaningful discussions, explore innovative solutions, and generate actionable insights to inform future policy reforms.
The event concluded with a dynamic interactive roundtable, moderated by Dušan Jakovljević, where three esteemed experts—Eline Blanchard, Edyta Nowak, and Ettore Piantoni—shared their perspectives on energy efficiency in industry, multi-benefits, and funding schemes for energy efficiency measures. Their expertise ensured a thorough and engaging discussion, providing valuable takeaways for all participants.
